The heat continues as we end the week and kick off the weekend.

Another heat advisory is in effect until 8 p.m. for Issaquena, Sharkey, Warren, Hinds, Rankin, Claiborne, Jefferson, Adams, Simpson, Copiah, Franklin, Lincoln, Jefferson Davis, Lawrence, Pike and Walthall counties.

Counties included in the heat advisory will see highs between 97 to 100 degrees with feels-like temperatures between 101 to 106.

Places excluded in the heat advisory will still be very hot today. Highs will range between 96 to 99 degrees. Drier air will come into these spots this afternoon, keeping the humidity a little farther down. Because of this feels like temperatures will range between 97 and 100 degrees.

Any outdoor activity should be limited or postponed until after 7 p.m. If outdoor activity is required between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., breaks should be taken every 10-15 minutes with breaks lasting between 15-30 minutes in a shaded spot or inside.

Going into the weekend, moisture will encompass the entire area, increasing the humidity throughout. Highs Saturday will range between 98 and 102 degrees. Real-feel values will be between 102 and 108. Highs Sunday will stay in the upper 90s, but with the humidity, it will feel closer to 105 and 110 degrees.

Rain chances will pick up on the back end of the weekend and into next week. A weak cold front will arrive Monday. Behind said front brings a bit of a cooldown.

Wake-up temperatures will return to the upper 60s and low 70s. Highs will reach the mid-to-low 90s. The question continues to be how much moisture will there be next week. Humidity looks to pick up later next week, increasing the real feel values throughout the region.

Tropics-wise, a tropical wave in the eastern Atlantic is being monitored for potential development early-to-mid next week. If it strengthens into a tropical storm, its name will be Bonnie. The track moves towards the windward islands in the Caribbean.
