Thing Cards are made from realistic looking items in the Paper Mario world called Things. When you find a Thing you can squeeze it dry to turn it into a card. These cards can then be used in battle or to solve puzzles. There are 27 Thing cards total.
Typically, the latter is their function but don't be too worried about using the cards. If you use a Thing card then you can always get another one for a high price. Check out the docks of Port Plaza and you will be able to find a Toad called "The Wringer." He lives in a barrel, but even more shady is that he can call up any Thing you've collected before and let you wring it dry until it's a card. These services are very expensive usually costing around 300 coins, but you'll need to do this a few times if you use your Thing card in combat since many of these Thing cards are needed to progress in the story.
