For those who want to save money and stock up on everything they need in one place, a wholesale club offers bulk goods at low prices. Essentially a super-sized grocery store — carrying things like electronics, home goods, clothes and more in addition to typical groceries —these stores give paying members unique advantages that other grocery providers lack.

Since goods are sold in larger quantities at wholesale clubs, members can buy their essentials and more for lower prices.

"Value-wise, I can save up to 25% off grocery store prices. I have five kids, and I'm a full-time working mom, so that is so important. Not only that, but it’s the only warehouse club that accepts manufacturer coupons, so there's that extra element of savings, as well," said Audrey McClelland, a BJ's Wholesale Club shopper.

According to analysis from Ramsey Solutions, buying in bulk does save money — especially on items like toiletries, canned goods, meat and rice. Those savings stack up if you're feeding more people since fewer of your groceries are at risk of going to waste.

Each wholesale club will have its own price and savings policies. At BJ’s, for example, members can stack savings using BJ's coupons on top of manufacturers' coupons.

Wholesale clubs don't only provide grocery staples and seasonal items. Many also have exclusive services like vision care, home improvement, and tire offerings and more — including travel packages that offer incremental savings on top of other national offers.

In addition to in-club services, many clubs also have partnerships with other companies that allow for exclusive offers. At BJ's, for example, members have access to special deals with companies like discounted phones and plans at AT&T, insurance discounts at Liberty Mutual and discounted clean energy technology at Inspire.

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the average amount of time people spend grocery shopping is around 46 minutes. When you take into account travel time, most people's total trip will be over an hour long. For busy households, fitting that time in can be a challenge.

Much like grocery stores, wholesale clubs offer curbside pickup, allowing shoppers to fill their carts online or through an app, pay for their purchase, then pick up inside the store or curbside. At clubs like BJ's, shoppers can even get same-day delivery in as little as two hours.

"The convenience works in a busy lifestyle, which is so great. They offer so many ways for you to shop, and it just works for your schedule and your life, which I just appreciate," said McClelland. "I also love that it's a one-stop-shop for everything. They have produce, a deli, a bakery — everything you're going to need for your grocery list. And on top of that, they also have seasonal items like decorations, books, toys — anything you need."
